What a month actually adds up to
WhatsApp API Cost — What You Pay Meta vs What You Pay Wapikon
Page updated 10 September 2026 · Meta list rates effective July 1, 2026 · Meta pricing docs
WhatsApp API cost is not one number. You pay Meta for delivered templates (and related conversation categories) at Meta’s published rates for the destination country. You pay Wapikon a separate subscription for the software that sends those messages. You may pay an email ESP if you send email. Tax may appear on the Wapikon invoice. The on-site calculator estimates the Meta layer only.

Start with destination, not a global average
Cost follows the recipient’s WhatsApp market. A utility reminder to an Indian number uses India’s utility list rate. The same template to a UAE number uses the UAE utility list rate. Averaging “worldwide WhatsApp cost” is how quotes go wrong.
Count opted-in contacts, pick the template category, read the destination rate, multiply. Then add the Wapikon plan for the month and any tax on that plan.
Four lines on a WhatsApp API bill
Wapikon does not set or control Meta’s WhatsApp rates. Meta publishes conversation and template charges by destination market and category. Wapikon’s calculator shows those list rates and does not add a markup on Meta conversation charges.
A complete cost picture has four parts. Mixing them into one “per message” quote hides which vendor you are paying.
- Meta / WhatsApp messaging charges — marketing, utility, and authentication templates billed by Meta according to the recipient’s country. Service replies inside an open customer-care window follow Meta’s current service rules.
- Wapikon platform charges — the workspace subscription (inbox, Flow Builder, broadcasts, AI agent with human takeover, omnichannel). Plans are listed on the public pricing section; UAE teams can discuss AED billing. This is not a Meta fee.
- Optional services — email you send through SMTP or an ESP (Brevo, Mailgun, SendGrid, Postmark, Resend) is billed by that provider. Wapikon does not invent a bundled ESP tariff here. Flow Builder is included in Wapikon plans rather than sold as a separate bot SKU.
- Taxes — GST, VAT, or other taxes may appear on the Wapikon invoice according to the billing entity and local rules. The invoice is the source of truth. This site does not invent a tax percentage.
What the calculator does not include
It does not add Wapikon subscription. It does not add GST or VAT. It does not apply unpublished volume tiers. It does not bill failed or undelivered messages as if they succeeded. Treat the total as a Meta list-rate estimate, then compare it to your live invoice.
Pricing methodology
Meta template rates on this site come from Meta’s public WhatsApp Business Platform rate card, effective July 1, 2026. Source: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/whatsapp/pricing/. They are regenerated from Meta’s published files — not guessed.
The calculator multiplies the list rate for the selected destination market and category by the message counts you enter. Utility messages you mark as free inside the customer-care window are not multiplied. Volume-tier discounts, failed deliveries, quality pauses, and WABA billing currency can change the real Meta invoice.
Wapikon subscription amounts are not hardcoded on these pages because plans are shown live on the pricing section and can be quoted in INR or AED. Never treat the calculator total as “Wapikon’s price.” It is an estimate of Meta list fees only.
Worked examples (Meta list rates only)
Support-heavy month (mostly session + utility)
If most chats stay inside the customer-care window, Meta template cost can be small even when agent volume is high: session replies are not the same as marketing templates. Cost then is mostly the Wapikon workspace (seats and product) rather than Meta marketing rates.
Campaign month (marketing templates)
A 10,000-message marketing send to UAE numbers is about AED 1,832.00 at Meta’s July 1, 2026 UAE marketing list rate (AED 0.1832 each). The same volume to Indian numbers is about ₹8,631.00 at India’s marketing list rate (₹0.8631 each). Platform subscription still sits on a different line.
